Duško Šibl
Tuesday 9 September to Saturday 11 October
‘The human figure has been a lifelong preoccupation in my painting, connecting the physical with the eternal Faustian theme of good and evil. I try to express my thoughts and emotions within the human shape using bold and direct brush strokes, while colour corresponds with my mood at that moment.’ (Dusko Sibl 2008)
Born in Zagreb, Croatia in 1951, Dusko Sibl has studied in Zagreb and London including the Royal College of Art. Since 1986 he has lived between Zagreb, London and Dubrovnik, where he has studios and has exhibited his work. He has created a series of new paintings specifically for this exhibition.
Part of the exhibition will change daily, as he creates new paintings during the development process of “Time”. “Time” is a multidisciplinary live art piece produced by Hope Street Limited, that brings Sibl together with Momentum Theatre, film maker Robin Rice and Liverpool band Winterbourne & Blaster.
These new works will be inspired by improvised music, movement and film.

City, Light, Sky
Starting out with his Kodak Instamatic at the age of 6, Mike has been taking photographs of the world around him.
This exhibition is Mike’s second at unity and feature’s 3 distinct strands, City, Light, Sky, each featuring a series of pictures that all connect through the title of each strand.
“I do all of the work on framing, exposure and colour in camera, rather than altering and reframing on computer, this makes my pictures very of the moment, reflecting what I saw at the time, and hopefully leaving a trace of what I was thinking or feeling at that moment”.

Moving on up!
Liverpool based Faith Bebbington, returns to unity with her exhibition of dynamic, dance inspired sculpture. Exhibits include the Wave based on a vogue pose from House of Suarez’s show Liverpool is Burning, now created as a bronze limited edition.
Our Stories Exhibition
Being gay in the 40’s, 50’s and 60’s was largely a clandestine activity. In Liverpool there were a number ofmeeting places for gay men, which included cinemas, theatres, public conveniences and bars like the Old Royal. For women there was no public space at all and they relied on private networks. This exhibition features
the first hand accounts of older gay people and their shared secret history.

David Weaver
Tuesday 18 November to Saturday 23 December
The mark, the moment, le geste recording
Relaxed intensity, experience felt of
Line, point, improvised, successive,
Of critical mass immediate and now.
Drama out played in time,
In weight, in weightlessness, a sign
Signifying chance input provided by
Eye, the why, mind, and heart.
Fixing a space, a place, a room for freedom from
Collective solutions, external dilutions of visual muzak wash.
Gratifying, satisfying,
Harmonious discord, agitated calm
Abrupt transition, cool heat
Facing the internal, eternal, weathered shelters
Of uncool landscape, emotional
Connections across aeons and cultures.
